Former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri has reportedly discussed a possible move to Chelsea with Belgian forward Dries Mertens.
The Independent claims that Sarri has spoken to a number of Napoli players about the possibility of following him to London this summer.
Mertens is one of many Napoli players who boast a reasonably cheap release clause, which could spark some interest from Chelsea if Sarri does replace Antonio Conte.
The Belgium forward, who was so influential in the way Sarri set his Napoli side up, is available for just £28 million.
Despite recently turning 31, at under £30 million, he would have to be considered as a bargain transfer.
Mertens scored 22 goals in all competitions for Napoli last season and has attracted interest from Barcelona in the past.
Sarri is widely expected to replace current head coach Conte after agreeing a three-year contract. However, both Napoli and Chelsea remain in discussions over a settlement fee for the Italian.
