Manchester United are reportedly ready to launch a £50m bid for Fulham left-winger Ryan Sessegnon, despite the club’s insistence that he’s not for sale this summer.
Sessegnon is a natural left-back, which could be why he interests Jose Mourinho so much, but he spent the second half of the 2017-18 season at left-wing and accumulated 16 goals and eight assists in all competitions.
His final assist of the campaign was arguably the most important as he brilliantly set up Tom Cairney’s winning goal in the Championship Play-Off Final as Fulham beat Aston Villa 1-0 to secure promotion to the Premier League.
The London club continue to insist the 18-year-old starlet is not for sale ahead of their return to the top-flight, but The Sun claims that Man United have overtaken Tottenham Hotspur as favourites and are set to bid £50m for his services.
With Daley Blind, Luke Shaw and Matteo Darmian‘s futures at Old Trafford worryingly unclear, Mourinho is desperate to add full-backs to his squad and Sessegnon has proven he’s effective anywhere down the left-flank.
United are thought to be closing in on deals for Portugal under-21 international Diogo Dalot and Juventus left-back Alex Sandro, but are still tempted by the prospect of acquiring the country’s hottest young talent.
