Phil Neville believes there’s plenty more to come from Manchester Untied star Paul Pogba following his match winning performance for France vs Australia.
The midfielder scored his side’s winning goal in the 2-1 victory in Russia to ensure they would receive all three points so they could start their World Cup campaign on the right foot.
Pogba was still criticised by some sections of the media despite being officially awarded the man of the match award and it appears there’s nothing he could do to satisfy them.
Neville himself believed the performance was good but still believes it was a little safe from a player who’s often been attacked for being too risky.
Either way, Paul can silence all those who talk against him if he manages to lead his nation to the footballing world’s biggest trophy this summer.
According to the Daily Mail, Phil said: “We’ve seen two things from Paul Pogba today. He played safe passes and kept the ball moving. He was involved in the first and second goal so you’d say he had a good game.
“The critics will say ‘he didn’t play well today because we didn’t see him’. Everyone wants him to play safe, to not have colour in his hair and be that boring footballer but he’s not that.
“Today he produced, for me, a safe performance and I still think there’s miles more to come.”
Pogba does still have more to prove for United as well since he was criticised last season for being too inconsistent but he may never get the chance to prove his worth with reports linking him with a move away.
Jose Mourinho invested in Shakhtar Donetsk’s Fred, perhaps in a bid to bring the best out of the Frenchman and so fans could potentially see an even better player next season.
