David de Gea has claimed that he’s more than content with life in Manchester amidst more rumours of a move to Real Madrid.
De Gea has been linked with a return to the Spanish capital for years, ever since earning the reputation of the world’s best goalkeeper at Manchester United following his move from Atletico Madrid in 2011.
Real reportedly believe they can finally capture the 27-year-old for £100m this summer, but he has insisted that he is currently happy in the north of England.
Talking to COPE ahead of Spain’s World Cup opener against Portugal on Friday, De Ge said: “I don’t think Florentino Pérez has my number. I don’t know if at Real Madrid I’ll be great, what I do know is that I’m very happy in Manchester.
“I do not know if I’m going to be Madrid’s goalkeeper. I’m happy where I am & we need to win titles, what I want is to win titles like any other player.”
Man United and Real agreed a deal worth £29m for De Gea, including the exchange of fellow ‘keeper Keylor Navas, back on Deadline Day in August 2015 but paperwork wasn’t completed in time and the transfer fell through.
Ever since, De Gea has continued to impress between the sticks for United and speculation regarding a move to the Santiago Bernabeu has continued to crop up but nothing has materialised.
Manager Jose Mourinho has already said he thinks the no. 1 will be a United player next season, so at the moment there doesn’t seem to be anything too bad for fans to worry about.
