Pundit Ian Wright believes Alexis Sanchez doesn’t warrant a spot in the Manchester United starting XI on current form.
The Chilean hasn’t enjoyed a positive start to the season with fans becoming increasingly frustrated with his performances.
Supporters are keen to see Sanchez at his best but the excuses for his poor form are quickly running out.
The winger enjoyed plenty of time off during the summer and is edging towards a year at the club with Wright believing he could be dropped for those waiting in the wings.
Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford can both feature on the left flank and are clearly keen on getting more match-time under their belts.
According to the BBC, Ian said: “He does not warrant a place in the team when you have Martial and Marcus Rashford waiting to play.
“You look at him at United: he’s not shackled, he’s got freedom. His form will have to kick in to justify a place.”
Alexis was in fine form for United during pre-season but seemingly can’t get things going in competitive play.
Perhaps a tactical tweak would better suit the former Barcelona man or even a positional change.
Jose Mourinho did play Sanchez on the right-wing and attacking midfield positions but perhaps not long enough to see real results.
The winger has mostly featured on the left hand side of the Red Devils attack and could benefit from switching to the other side.
Mourinho has needed a right-winger for some time now so perhaps the change will work wonders for both parties.
