<--Article Start-->New Manchester United midfielder Fred was absent from Brazil training again on Tuesday as Tite’s 23-man squad continue their preparations for the 2018 World Cup.
Fred would’ve been all smiles on Monday as Man United announced that a fee, thought to be in excess of £50m, had been agreed with Shakhtar Donetsk for his services.
However, the moment was dampened shortly afterwards after a heavy challenge from Real Madrid’s Casemiro saw the 25-year-old leave the training session early in pain with what team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar described as ‘ankle trauma’.
He hasn’t trained since the incident and has instead been to Austria to begin rehabilitation in hope of a return before Brazil kick-off their campaign in Russia.
Brazil face Switzerland on Sunday night before matches against Costa Rica and Serbia in Group E where United fans will be hoping to catch a glimpse of their new star.
Fred was captured walking normally out of his hotel on Monday which is a positive sign for supporters of Brazil and United, but it’s unknown whether he’ll be fully ready right from the get-go this summer.
It’s expected that he’ll slot into a midfield three alongside Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba next season at Old Trafford, so it’ll be interesting to see what he brings to the table at the grandest stage of them all this summer.
