Manchester United signing Fred is set to be left out of Brazil’s clash against Switzerland, meaning fans who were hoping to see him in action won’t be able to do so.
Some supporters were excited to see their Old Trafford bound star before he arrives to the club as he was called up for his nation’s World Cup campaign in Russia.
The midfielder suffered an unfortunate injury in a training session with his international teammates where Real Madrid’s Casemiro was a little too harsh in his tackle.
There were initial fears that Fred would miss the World Cup entirely following the injury but he thankfully travelled with the rest of the squad.
The former Shakhtar Donetsk man has returned to individual training but it seems as though it’s a race against time that he hasn’t won and so there’s been some unpleasant news on his behalf.
According to Metro, Brazil manager Tite will leave Fred out of the nation’s first World Cup clash in order to not risk him following his injury as he lacks sharpness.
Fans will have to wait for the South American nation’s second game of the tournament which will be against Costa Rica and the hope is that they can pick up the needed points against Switzerland too.
