Yaya Toure has refused to rule out the prospect of joining Manchester United on a free transfer this summer and admitted he wanted to play alongside Paul Pogba.
The Ivorian midfielder, who has spoken of a desire to remain in the Premier League, becomes a free agent next month after spending eight years at Manchester City.
Jose Mourinho, meanwhile, is on the lookout for a replacement in holding midfield following the retirement of Michael Carrick.
And Toure, when asked about the possibility of joining United, didn’t rule it out and specified the importance of joining a big club alongside wanting to play with Pogba.

Yaya Toure: “Pogba is a great player. He’s a fantastic player. He’s a little bit young at the moment. Technically as well, the ability to score goals as well. It is a player I want to play with, to be honest, just to teach him some things.”

Now this really would be quite something. The idea of Toure, a veteran for Man City, jumping ship to the red side makes very little sense at all. It just feels wrong.
For Toure, however, it could be a move which suits a player who probably doesn’t want to leave Manchester after eight years, admires Pogba, and wants to stay in the Premier League playing for a big club.
Toure doesn’t fit the required midfield profile whatsoever ahead of the summer. United need fresh legs, fresh ideas, not someone in their mid thirties ambling through the midfield. But perhaps Mourinho, in similar fashion to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, might want to capitalise on the Ivorian’s experience and big game mentality.
