Turkish journalist Firat Gunner has claimed that Manchester United have reached a preliminary agreement with Benfica forward Anderson Talisca to move to Old Trafford in the summer.
The Brazilian forward struggled to make his mark at Benfica but has encountered success on loan at Besiktas, netting 37 goals over two campaigns.
Jose Mourinho is a big fan of Talisca and this is not the first time Man United have been linked with the 24-year-old, who stated last year that he’d love to work under the Portuguese.
And Gunner tweeted over the weekend that United had been in touch with Talisca and struck a gentleman’s agreement with the forward, although no official agreement with Benfica has been reached.
“Talisca has signed a preliminary protocol with Manchester United,” he wrote. “Benfica, however, has not yet agreed with the British club. Besiktas also take 21 and sell to other clubs.”
Talisca was branded as not good enough at Benfica, described as too lazy and rough around the edges, but his resurgence at Besiktas – most notably with four goals in the Champions League this season – has caught the eye of Mourinho.
The Portuguese bemoaned his lack of aerial presence following the FA Cup final, and with Marouane Fellaini set to leave in the coming weeks the acquisition of Talisca, who stands at 6’3, makes a lot of sense.
