David de Gea has unsurprisingly made the Spain World Cup squad but Ander Herrera and Juan Mata have both missed out.
Manchester United’s ‘Player of the Season’ travelled with the Spain squad as third choice keeper behind Iker Casillas and Pepe Reina in 2014.
Herrera was called up to the Spain squad last year but has not featured for his country this season and Mata, who also went to the last World Cup, has not played for Spain since 2016.
The pair were not included in a star-studded Spain lineup which also excluded Alvaro Morata and Cesc Fabregas, but De Gea can now look forward to playing in the World Cup for the first time.

De Gea won his fourth ‘Player of the Year’ award in five seasons earlier this month but only now, following his best season at Old Trafford, is he getting the international recognition he deserves.
22 clean sheets in total, a Golden Glove award, countless impossible saves which sent social media into overdrive, his reputation as best keeper in the world now regarded more as fact than opinion.
It is the perfect platform from which to travel to Russia and make an impact on the most almighty of stages. This is a Spain team with fresh ideas along with a remarkable squad and winning record under new manager Julen Lopetegui, but following two underwhelming major tournaments in a row they will, much like United, need to depend on their No.1 to keep them afloat when the going gets tough.
