Unai Emery has told the press what he plans to do with Mesut Özil during his first press conference as Arsenal head coach (via Arsenal.com).
It was fascinating to see somebody other than Arsene Wenger give a press conference as the new chief decision-maker at Arsenal.
Unai Emery was confirmed as the club’s new head coach this morning and held his first press conference as the club’s boss.
One of the things asked by the gathered press was his plans for certain players and, in particular, Mesut Özil.
“He’s one of the biggest talents here and I want talents here,” Emery told the press.
“I want to spend time with him, with all the players. I want to speak with him on a level, to speak with them about how excited and inspired I am to be here.
“I think this is a wonderful project and we all want to give 100%. That’s what I’m looking for from every player and myself.
“Our objective is to be among the best teams in Europe. I also want the team to make the fans proud of the side.”
It will be fascinating to see how players like Mesut Özil performs under Unai Emery. The former Sevilla and PSG boss is known as a demanding head coach and some Arsenal fans have questioned how Ozil will respond to that. We can only wait and see how Özil will react.
