Unai Emery has given his first press conference as Arsenal head coach and revealed how he wants his team to play.
It’s a big day at Arsenal. This morning, Unai Emery was confirmed as the club’s new head coach and has since given his first press conference.
Emery spoke in English which, while not fluent, was impressive and far better than early reports suggested.
The former Sevilla and Paris Saint-German boss was asked what style of football he wants his Arsenal team to play and gave an answer which will please Arsenal fans immensely.
“My idea is to be protagonists the entire match. We play with this personality,” Emery told the press.
“The history here is to play with the ball. I like this personality, to play with the ball. When you don’t have the ball, I want a squad very intensive on pressure.
“To be protagonists with possession and pressing when we don’t have the ball.”
It was an impressive first press conference from Unai Emery. His English was broken but far better than many expected as Emery gave an exciting rundown on what he wants to bring to the club. The answers on his style of play will certainly please many Arsenal fans.
