David de Gea 6 – Left stranded for Tottenham’s goal in the first half but, surprisingly, had very little else do to.
Antonio Valencia 6 – Did well to contain the threat of Heung-Min Son on the right hand side and looked commanding on the ball. Could have picked up a red for a high tackle in the second half.
Phil Jones 7 – During a 20 minute spell where Tottenham were flying forward, the Englishman was an imperious force at the back, flying in front of everything and anything.
Chris Smalling 6 – His positioning for Spurs’ goal was once again poor but he recovered well, keeping Harry Kane quiet in the box.
Ashley Young 5 – Absolutely nowhere to be seen for Dele Alli’s goal and, on the whole, frustratingly immobile on the ball.
Nemanja Matic 6 – Struggled to cope with the pace of Spurs initially but took up good positions in the second half, cleverly protecting the centre backs.
Ander Herrera 7 – A ruthlessly brilliant, all-action, high-tempo performance from the Spaniard. Tore across the pitch with optimum tenacity and steered the midfield battle in Manchester United’s direction before slamming Jose Mourinho’s side in front.
Paul Pogba 7 – Grew into the game splendidly, providing a sumptuous cross for Alexis Sanchez’s goal and unleashing a series of glorious forward passes and bursts down the left channel.
Jesse Lingard 6 – Struggled to get into the game in the first half but started to produce some superb runs to stretch Spurs’ back four as the game went on. Showed great awareness for Herrera’s gal.
Alexis Sanchez 7 – Some questioned his selection ahead of the game but the Chilean proved all doubters wrong with a great header to pull United level and a wonderfully dedicated display, pinching the ball off players and nipping forward with enthusiasm.
Romelu Lukaku 6 – Lacked presence in the box for the most part and could have done better with a header in the second half, but his physical presence played a fundamental role in setting up Herrera’s goal.
