Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly set to overhaul his defence in the summer and has an eye on just who he can bring in as replacements.
The Portuguese manager has long been said to have lost his patience with a number of the club’s defenders despite keeping an overall impressive defensive record.
Matteo Darmian, Chris Smalling and Daley Blind have all been rumoured to have the lost the faith of Mourinho during the season.
While the Englishman has been selected by default due to the club’s other injured stars, both Darmian and Blind haven’t really been seen in the squad of late.
The former Chelsea manager is also said to be upset with the club’s reliance on two ageing former wingers as full-backs in the shape of Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young.
According to talkSport, the Sunday Times report that Jose plans on overhauling his defence completely and aims to bring in Samuel Umtiti as well as Alex Sandro to shore things up for the Red Devils.
Luke Shaw could potentially see himself leave the club as well with recent reports linking him with a move to either Tottenham or Chelsea.
The Englishman was hailed by Jose Mourinho as one of the best left-backs in the world but recent public criticisms has seen him being linked with other Premier League clubs.
Fans have called out Shaw’s mentality and are disappointed to see the player’s inability to hold onto the left-back spot consistently since his arrival to Old Trafford.
