Man Utd's Rashford discusses what it means to be a 'local' player

Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford has admitted that when he plays for the club he’s not only doing it for himself but also for everyone who wishes to live the dream through him.

The academy product has recently been linked with a move away from the club but instead focussed on what it means to feature for Jose Mourinho’s side.

Rashford has gotten the most amount of appearances compared to anyone else since the Portuguese manager’s arrival at Old Trafford.

The Englishman though has still been said to be unhappy with his lack of starts and will look elsewhere for the match time he seeks.

The youngster though is well aware what it means to play for United but more importantly what it means when you’re a ‘local’ player.

According to the Faithful MUFC, Marcus said: “A lot of people have that dream, so you’re not only doing it for you; you’re doing it for a lot of people that you might not even know.

“But there are a lot of people who had the dream of playing for their local team when they were young. So I think you are playing not only for yourself and for the club, but for all the people that are living that dream through you.”

Marcus Rashford is a Red Devil through and through having been at the club since he was a kid and the reports of him leaving are incredibly bizarre.

There appears to be some type of agenda in the media that for some reason hopes that it would all come true despite Mourinho’s clear admiration for him and the player’s desire to remain at the club for his whole career.

Rashford though has shown surprising maturity of understanding what it means to play for Manchester United and how important it is that he’s from the academy.

Many footballers are unaware of the responsibility that they carry on their shoulders and how fans feel about the clubs they represent.

However, Marcus is fully aware of it as well as realising how blessed he is to be able to make his dream happen when many others failed before him.
