Alexis Sanchez has been spending an extra half an hour training by himself after every training session at Manchester United.
The Chile international moved to Old Trafford over the January transfer window as part of a straight swap deal involving Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
And he has been named ‘Man of the Match’ in two of his first three appearances in a Man United shirt, netting his first goal during the 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town.
According to a source at Carrington, the 29-year-old has been doing an extra 30 minutes after each session in an attempt to gain an extra bit of sharpness.
“He has been doing an extra half an hour after the main session has finished by himself,” he said.
“Nobody had asked him to do it but he feels there is an extra sharpness to be had. He has got his head down and you can see the steam coming off his body after working outside, it’s so impressive.”
Even during those last few months at Arsenal, where you imagine he would’ve wanted to be almost anywhere else, Sanchez gave absolutely everything. Every drop of blood and sweat, every sinew.
This is just how the Chilean operates. To most players, the important thing to do after training is rest; to Sanchez, however, the only logical thing to do after training is more training.
That distinction is what separates the fantastic from the very best – those who, through some innate sense of drive, never want to stop working, improving, and winning.
A proper Mourinho player and, yes, a proper Man United player.
