Chelsea signed Arsenal forward Olivier Giroud in the January transfer window for £18m and he has already made a good impression on the Blues supporters according to Football London.
He started his first game for the club in the comfortable 3-0 win over West Brom at Stamford Bridge on Monday evening and looked to be playing well alongside Eden Hazard on the night.
Giroud set the Belgian up brilliantly for the first Chelsea goal and the two seemed to bond in a positive way on the pitch throughout the match.
With summer signing Alvaro Morata struggling to settle the signing of Giroud for the club was crucial if they were to be anywhere near making it into the top four which followed to poor results in loses against Bournemouth and Watford in the Premier League.
Hazard was pleased with the way the Frenchman had started and hopes it’s a sign of things to come.
Yeah he’s a great target man. Maybe one of the best in England so when we pass the ball we can go around him.
Not just me, but Pedro and Willian when we are playing. Yes, he is a good point of reference. So let’s play together but we have a lot; we have him, we have Alvaro [Morata], I can play striker also – so it is not just about him. But yes, he is a good target man.
He continued and went onto add:
Yeah, of course. We showed a response and we did well in front of our fans.
It’s always good to play this kind of game. Now we have two games to play against Hull and against Barca, so we are ready. I think it was not a good moment for us because we lost two games but now we are back.
