Georgio Chiellini is set to end all rumours linking him with a move to Chelsea by signing a contract extension at Juventus, according to talkSPORT.
The 33-year-old’s current contract in Turin runs out in the summer, so at the start of the January transfer window he was able to talk to foreign clubs over a potential free transfer in the summer on a pre-contract agreement, which included Chelsea.
The Italian has been heavily linked to Chelsea and has been for a while, due to the fact that his former Juve boss is Antonio Conte, and the current Chelsea manager was keen on a reunion, especially after saying that David Luiz would be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge.
If he were to be keen on a move to West London, the central defender could run down his contract with the Old Lady, join in the summer as a free agent and receive a huge signing-on fee.
However, it is reported that he will not do this and he will show his loyalty to Juventus, where he has played since 2005, by signing a year contract extension at the Juventus Stadium.
So Chelsea may not get their man from Italy, but the Blues still have a solid defence with Marcos Alonso, Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, etc, and they still have the talent to push up the table until the end of the season, when the transfer saga starts all over again.
