Chelsea youngster Kasey Palmer completed a late deadline day loan move yesterday, as he joined Championship side Derby County for the rest of the season.
Palmer, who has been at Chelsea since joining as an U16’s player from Charlton Athletic, has already been promoted from the Championship before, achieving that feat last year at Wembley with Huddersfield Town.
Gary Rowett’s men will be looking to do one better and get promoted automatically. The Rams currently sit second in the Championship table, a point clear of 3rd placed Aston Villa. However, they are 11 points behind runaway leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The 21-year-old becomes the second player to join Derby County this window, after fellow attacker Cameron Jerome arrived at Pride Park earlier on in January.
At Stamford Bridge, he has won the U21’s Premier League and two consecutive UEFA Youth League titles, but now he has his eyes on more senior medals to add to his collection.
During his time at Huddersfield Town in the second tier, while he was there throughout the whole 2016/17 season, he made 27 Championship appearances, scoring five goals, and became a fans’ favourite at the John Smith’s Stadium.
If he can repeat history in the East Midlands, then this could be a great move for Derby County, for Kasey Palmer and in the long term, Chelsea.
