Arsenal legend, Ian Wright has revealed that he thinks the club should sign four players in three different positions (via The Sport Review).
Watching Arsenal’s 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday afternoon, it was clear that the January signings weren’t enough to save this team.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan both started the match but neither player put in a particularly good performance in their first North London Derby.
Harry Kane got the only goal of the game just after half-time but there were definite opportunities for more goals.
Now, Arsenal legend Ian Wright has revealed the three positions which he thinks Arsenal need to strengthen in the summer.
“Arsenal need a proper defensive midfielder and they need two centre-halves, not just one,” Wright told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“I would also start looking for a goalkeeper as well.”
He’s certainly not wrong. With both Per Mertesacker retiring and both Laurent Koscielny and Nacho Monreal past 32, the Gunners are in desperate need of reinforcement at the back. Petr Cech is in the final stages of his career and Granit Xhaka hasn’t really been effective as a defensive midfielder since his signing. Wright is correct.
