Manchester United defender DaleyBlind is drawing interest from Inter Milan with his contract running out soon, according to Italian outlet Calciomercato.
The Netherlands international hasn’t played a league game for Man United since September, being used merely as a utility option off the bench or in lesser tournaments.
Blind arrived at Old Trafford from Ajax for around £15m as one of Louis van Gaal’s first signings and has gone on to play 136 times for the club in the last four seasons.
He no longer has a starting spot, having rarely properly cemented himself as a guaranteed starter at the club, more often being used in a number of positions, changing week by week.
Inter have now expressed their interest in signing Blind in January, as they look to bolster their defensive options.
They join La Liga giants FC Barcelona, who are also eyeing up a move for Blind. The Dutchman’s contract runs out in June 2018, but United do have the option to trigger a 12-month extension to that deal, which would boost any transfer fee they receive for a very useful squad player.
United boss Jose Mourinho has recently said that if a player wants to leave and clubs match United’s valuation of that player, Mourinho will allow them to go as he did with Memphis Depay to Olympique Lyonnais and Morgan Schneiderlin to Everton last January.
Blind has regularly been used as a back-up left-back by Mourinho, and with rumours of a January move for Tottenham Hotspur’s Danny Rose or Juventus’ Alex Sandro, he may fall even further down the pecking order.
