Luiz offers himself to Barcelona

Chelsea defender David Luiz has offered himself to Spanish side Barcelona ahead of the January transfer window.

According to The Mirror, Luiz is keen to join Barcelona to replace Javier Mascherano.

The Argentine centre back is leaving Barcelona at the start of next month to complete a move to China, earning an end of career payday.

Luiz has been frozen out of the Chelsea side this season after an argument with manager Antonio Conte.

Chelsea academy graduate Andreas Christensen has taken his place and impressed at the heart of the Chelsea defence, with no return in sight for Luiz.

Barcelona are on the lookout for a new central defender and could now consider a move for Luiz as he makes himself available for a move.

Luiz played an important role in Chelsea winning the Premier League title last season but was caught out in the opening weeks of this season.
