West Brom manager Alan Pardew has claimed his star player Jonny Evans could easily be a Manchester United player ahead of their match on Sunday.
The Red Devils travel to the Hawthorns in search of another three points as they continue to chase league leaders and rivals Manchester City.
Evans once used to feature for United and there were high hopes that the Northern Irishman would become a club icon.
The now 29 year old struggled with injuries and confidence issues but has impressed hugely since moving to West Brom.
His performances have raised a lot of interest, particularly from City with Pep Guardiola a huge admirer but Pardew insists his player could easily still have ben a Red Devil.
According to Mail Online, Alan said: “He’s just a great player. I think he showed that the other night against Liverpool. Make no mistake, he could easily wear a Manchester United shirt on Sunday.”
Jonny Evans was once a part of a trio of young players expected to be a huge part of Manchester United’s defence and future.
Phil Jones and Chris Smalling were supposed to be eased into their great potential with Evans there to lead the way but it’s fair to say things didn’t end out that way.
Jonny was the first player of that trio to leave, axed by Louis Van Gaal as non essential personnel leaving just Smalling and Jones at the club.
The English duo have survived so far but there are rumours that Mourinho is sick of their injury proneness with Chris in particular under heavy fire.
Phil has been lauded by the Portuguese but unless he’s regularly fit for the club it’s unlikely that he will be given much leeway in the future.
