Reports in Turkey suggest that Fenerbahce are in the “final stages” of a prospective deal to sign Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil (via Sport Witness).
It always seemed like it would make a lot of sense for Mesut Ozil to spend the later few years of his career back in Turkey.
It’s felt like destiny for the former Real Madrid man to end his playing days in the country but a deal has always seemed out of reach for everyone concerned.
Given Ozil’s enormous contract at the Emirates right now, it’s never seemed likely that a club in the Turkish league could afford to get the deal done.
However, reports in Turkey right now suggest that this may not be the case with claims that Fenerbahce are in “the final stages” of a deal to sign the Arsenal man.
A Turkish journalist has claimed that only a few minor details are missing from the deal before it can be concluded.
It’s for the best that Mesut Ozil ends his association with Arsenal. The former Germany international hasn’t put in a good performance for the Gunners for some time. There were hopes that his form would improve after Unai Emery left the club but that hasn’t been the case. Let’s hope there is some truth in these claims.
