Chelsea’s seven-match unbeaten run in the Premier League came to an abrupt end last Saturday when they were defeated 1-0 by relegation strugglers West Ham at the London Stadium which had major implications in the Blues’ faltering title defence.
That defeat enabled Manchester City to extend their gap on third-placed Chelsea to 14 points after just 16 games which is surely now an insurmountable gap. The Blues’ main priority will be fending off the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal for a Champions League qualification spot.
This evening, Antonio Conte will be looking to get Chelsea back on track with a return to winning ways but they face a tricky test away to Huddersfield who are coming off the back of an impressive 2-0 win against Brighton.
Huddersfield have been a tough team to beat on their home patch and they picked up an impressive scalp when they turned over Manchester United in the Autumn and Chelsea will be wary of suffering a similar fate.
