Manchester United’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan is reportedly of interest to Borussia Dortmund who are considering bringing in their former player.
Mkhitaryan initially joined from the German giants in Jose Mourinho’s first season in charge of the club and was widely thought of as a bargain buy.
The Armenian hit double figures for goals and assists for his former club in his last season before joining the Red Devils but was bought for less than £30m pounds.
That figure can rise over time but fans were pleased to be getting their hands on one of Europe’s best teams’ best player.
Since then though things have taken a turn for the worse, or so it seems and Henrikh may be leaving Old Trafford sooner than expected.
According to BBC Sport, Dortmund are happy to welcome back their former player much in the same way they did with Shinji Kagawa.
Kagawa is another player who made the switch to England from Germany but successfully moved back after struggling to adjust to the Premier League.
Mkhitaryan initially seemed to struggle, performing better for Manchester United in the Europa League than England’s top division, leaving experts to think that he’s just in transition and is adapting to his new surroundings.
Those claims were soon believed when the Armenian had an incredible start to his second season at the club, assisting numerous times in a small number of matches.
Since then though, the attacking midfielder’s displays have declined so sharply that it’s hard to believe that it’s the same player and perhaps Jose Mourinho is fed up with the inconsistency.
