How this La Liga giant will ruin Man United's transfer plans: report

Manchester United may be in for a more terrible summer than initially anticipated with Real Madrid reportedly not willing to give up on signing Paul Pogba.

The La Liga giants were thought to be put off by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side’s evaluation of the Frenchman but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

The midfielder is believed to be central to the Norwegian’s plans and him leaving will completely upset United’s transfer business.

However, it doesn’t stop there, Madrid are said to be so adamant at getting Pogba that they won’t stop chasing him until the Spanish transfer window ends.

Given that it ends after the English window, that could make matters far worse for the Red Devils as they wouldn’t be able to replace him if he somehow ended up leaving.

According to the Daily Mail, AS report that Paul has already agreed to join Real with Zinedine wanting him either this summer or the next.

Some Manchester United fans will definitely be hoping that it’s the latter as it will give Solskjaer a chance to replace him adequately but also a chance to convince him to remain longer.

Perhaps if Pogba sees the club improve within the next season, he won’t have a reason to depart Old Trafford in the end.

Chelsea are among a raft of clubs who are in the race to sign Dinamo Zagreb star Dani Olmo, according to reports.

The Blues are currently serving a transfer ban which is set to span over two windows, but this has not prevented them from being involved in speculation surrounding possible deals.

Croatian news outlet Sportske Novosti, as cited in a report from Spanish source AS, claims that Chelsea have emerged as potential suitors for Olmo, who recently lit up the European Championships with some impressive displays for the Spain Under-21 side.

The creative attacker emerged from the Barcelona academy but moved to Dinamo Zagreb in 2014, where he has made a name for himself at a senior footballing level.

Nevertheless, his performances for his country’s Under-21s appears to have put him firmly in the shop window, with clubs across Europe now understood to be keen.

Manchester United have already submitted a bid worth €40 million, according to the report, while Liverpool and Arsenal are also noted as possible destinations along with a host of other European outfits.

It’s understood the fee the Foxes are looking for is beyond the £75m Liverpool spent on Virgil van Dijk which is certainly a hefty amount.

Whether Manchester United are serious enough to part ways remains to be seen but Maguire has definitely split fans’ opinions.

Some feel Eric Bailly should be given a chance to prove his fitness and show he is the right man to partner Victor Lindelof in defence.

Others feel a top centre-back is needed but it’s not Harry while the last opinion is that the former Hull star’s asking price is way over value with cheaper options available on the market.

Chelsea reach agreement with key man over lucrative new contract

Ruben Loftus-Cheek has put pen to paper on a new long-term contract at Chelsea, according to a report from The Telegraph.

The England international enjoyed a strong campaign under Maurizio Sarri last term and now looks set to play a key role when Frank Lampard takes the reins at Stamford Bridge.

Loftus-Cheek sustained a severe Achilles injury towards the back-end of the 2018/19 season, meaning that he could struggle to play again in the current calendar year.

However, Chelsea have shown faith in their academy graduate and tied him down to a new deal that will span for at least five years, according to The Telegraph, which will represent a significant pay hike for the midfielder.

Loftus-Cheek had reportedly been earning £60,000 per week, but as a consequence of his most recent commitment to the Blues, he could take home a weekly figure of £150,000.

Lampard’s appointment as new Chelsea boss is set to be confirmed in the near future, and it seems he will be boosted by the renewal of the Englishman’s contract in West London.

European giants set to sign Chelsea forward on five-year deal

Bayern Munich are reportedly edging closer to signing Chelsea academy star Jamal Musiala, according to German outlet Bild, cited by Sports Witness.

The report claims that Bayern, who have been interested in senior Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi in recent months, have secured the services of the 18-year-old, with the player set to sign a professional five-year deal with the club.

Musiala is regarded as a future star by the Blues, who are desperate to keep hold of the player, however, it appears as if Musiala will make the move to Germany in the coming days.

The forward hasn’t turned out in a first-team encounter for Chelsea and will seek to break into the senior Munich squad in the coming years.

Plenty of teenagers have left England for Germany in recent years, with the likes of Jadon Sancho and Reiss Nelson excelling in the Bundesliga.

The news comes as a blow to Chelsea, who are currently under a two-window transfer ban and may have considered including the youngster in their first-team plans next season.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang may have been the top scorer for Arsenal last season but it was Alexandre Lacazettw who won the award for best season.

The Frenchman’s second season in North London was undoubtedly better than his first after an impressive year up front.

The 28-year-old has improved immensely in his two years at the club but is said to be a target for a number of other clubs.

One such side is an unnamed Spanish club who have reportedly declared their interest in the forward recently.

As a response, Arsenal are said to be holding talks with the Frenchman’s representatives to discuss the player’s future.

Alexandre Lacazette has three years remaining on his current contract but was reportedly in line for a wage increase this summer. It seems as if the rumoured interest from Spain has accelerated Arsenal’s plans to offer the Frenchman a new deal. The BBC’s David Ornstein has claimed that Arsenal are falling behind Napoli in the race to sign Celtic’s Kieran Tierney (via The BBC).

Kieran Tierney is one of Arsenal’s main transfer targets for this window and it had looked as if the Gunners were closing in on the signing.

The Scottish left-back departed Celtic’s summer training camp in Austria over the weekend to return to the UK.

Many assumed that was down to some negotiation breakthrough between the two clubs but that may not be the truth of it.

The BBC’s David Ornstein has claimed that Arsenal are falling behind another club in their pursuit for the 22-year-old.

Reports in England suggest that Arsenal’s £40 million offer for Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha is split over a five-year period (via The Standard).

It’s obvious that as football transfers have gotten more expensive, the behind-the-scenes business has also for more complicated.

It’s the norm for transfers to be incredibly complex and it seems as if Arsenal’s move for Wilfried Zaha is no exception.

Crystal Palace are said to want £80 million for their star man so Arsenal’s opening offer of £40 million will have hardly satisfied.

However, reports in England suggest that the Gunners’ offer is even further away from expectations with the payment said to be staggered over a five-year period.

That is not uncommon in transfers today but Palace are said to want all of that sum within twelve months of its completion.

It’s a complicated story which will only become more so as the transfer window continues. Many expect Arsenal’s pursuit of Wilfried Zaha to go right down to the final period of the window. Let’s hope the Gunners can get this deal done because the winger would add so much to this squad.

Man City beat Chelsea to signing of young prodigy

Chelsea have missed out on the signing of teenager Samuel Edozie, with Manchester City snapping him up instead.

That’s according to the Mirror, who have confirmed that Edozie has joined the Premier League champions from Millwall.

The deal is thought to be worth a minimum of £1 million, despite the 16-year-old’s contract expiring.

As well as Chelsea, it is believed Liverpool and Arsenal were also keeping a close eye on Edozie.

The Nigerian winger will head into City’s much-acclaimed academy, where he will look to rise through the ranks and eventually represent Pep Guardiola’s side.

Such is his potential, Edozie was already playing for Millwall’s U18s last season, despite his tender years.

Chelsea will now have to look elsewhere for young talent, but they are not able to sign senior players this summer, due to their two-window transfer ban.

Mateo Kovacic has been able to sign permanently from Real Madrid, however, because he was registered at Chelsea last season.

Man United given hope in race for sensational French midfielder

Manchester United reportedly still have a chance to sign highly sought-after Lyon star Tanguy Ndombele despite Tottenham being favourites.

The Frenchman previously admitted the London side are a big club, leading many to believe a move was inevitable.

With United said to be more keen on the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Sean Longstaff, it was understood that Spurs were leading this race.

Ndombele was only on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s radar as a replacement to Paul Pogba but given how he hasn’t left yet, there may be no need.

However, allowing a talented player to join one of their top four rivals may not be the smartest move.

According to the Mirror, L’Equippe report that Lyon have agreed a £64m with Tottenham but Tanguy is yet to agree personal terms, leaving the door open to the Red Devils to hijack a move as it’s believed they’re willing to match the bid.

However, last season’s Champions League finalists have more to offer than their Europa League counterparts.

Ndombele also doesn’t fit Solskjaer’s transfer policy of signing young, British players who are full of potential.

It’s clear whatever happens that this transfer saga is far from over and if Pogba does suddenly depart, there may be even more twists.

Manchester United star Diogo Dalot can rest at ease after reports claimed his future at the club is secure, contrary to earlier rumours.

In a shock to all fans, the Portuguese was suddenly said to be on the Old Trafford transfer-list, just a year after arriving.

The young full-back was expected to be United’s right-back for the next decade after Jose Mourinho invested around £19m in him.

It’s believed the rumour surfaced when the Independent accidentally claimed Dalot was being allowed to leave instead of Matteo Darmian.

They quickly corrected their error but by then it was too late with the news doing the rounds on social media.

According to the Telegraph, the Red Devils have full faith in Diogo and are hopeful he can have a bright future at the club but for the time being he will feature further forward or as cover for the left-back position.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s arrival did raise question marks but many felt it just meant the duo would have healthy competition for the right-back spot.

It appears Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sees matters differently and instead Dalot can expect to be more attacking next season.

The former Porto man did play as a right-winger a few times in the last campaign, most successfully during the historic comeback victory vs PSG.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly demanded for his third signing in Sean Longstaff to be completed swiftly before the pre-season tour.

The Norwegian has recently seen deals for Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James wrapped up but he’s not satisfied just yet.

The former Molde manager had publicly stated a desire to have all his signings completed before pre-season but fans never truly believed that would be the case.

Solskjaer’s revolution is well and truly under way and so far he has stuck to his transfer policy of buying young, British prospects.

Longstaff fits in with the same mould so it makes sense why he’s targeted but it’ll be tough to convince a stubborn Newcastle side to let go of one of their stars quickly.

According to the Daily Star, Ole has prioritised Sean’s signing and has asked executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward to not haggle and just meet Newcastle’s demands for around £20m plus add-ons.

It’s not a lot of money in fairness to the former striker and the Red Devils can certainly afford the £5m difference given their initial planned bid was £15m.

Woodward has gained a notorious reputation for elongating negotiations over small figures which threaten the deal itself so hopefully that doesn’t happen here either.

Chelsea's first summer signing confirmed

Real Madrid have announced that they have agreed a deal with Chelsea over the permanent transfer of Mateo Kovacic.

The Croatian midfielder joins the Blues after a year loan spell at the Blues last season.

Despite Chelsea’s transfer ban, they are able to sign Kovacic to a permanent deal, with the player not counting as a new registration, enabling the Blues to bring the midfielder into the side.

Kovacic will join the Blues as potentially their only signing of the summer window, with the transfer ban set to come into force.

Chelsea are currently appealing the ban, lodging a complaint to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

The Blues only other new arrival, as it stands, will be Christian Pulisic, who signed for the Blues in January but returned to Borussia Dortmund on loan for the rest of the season.

Chelsea are also expected to announce the arrival of Frank Lampard as their new manager soon.

Marcus Rashford has expressed his delight after penning a new deal at Manchester United keeping him at the club until 2023.

The 21-year-old, who scored four goals in his opening pair of senior games back in 2016, has cemented himself as Man United’s leading striker under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Wearing the No.10 shirt, Rashford was involved in a goal every 84 minutes during Solskjaer’s first five games as United boss last season, and scored the decisive penalty in that famous victory over Paris Saint Germain.

He took to social media after the club announced his new deal, which is thought to be worth around £200,000-a-week.

The new manager of Saint-Etienne has spoken about the stories linking centre-back William Saliba with a move to Arsenal (via The Metro).

It’s a transfer story which has been rumbling on for a couple of weeks but things could soon move along with William Saliba.

The centre-back now has a new manager at Saint-Etienne and Ghislain Printant has spoken about the prospect of selling the player.

“The sale of Saliba is not an absolute necessity,” he said in a press conference this morning.

“There is no urgency. He is courted by clubs.

“From a sporting point of view we want to keep him next season and that’s his wish too. He still has room for development.

“We will see. Our goal is for him to be with us again this season.”

It remains to be seen whether that will be the case. Printant seems to be hinting at the prospect of keeping Saliba in France for another season in order to develop. That may sound counterintuitive to many Arsenal fans but it does make a lot of sense in terms of Saliba’s long-term development.

Celtic’s Kieran Tierney has departed the Scottish club’s summer training camp in Austria amid Arsenal talks (via Football.Scotland).

It’s clear that Celtic’s Kieran Tierney is one of Arsenal’s big targets for this summer transfer window.

The Gunners have already had a bid rejected for the Scottish international left-back and have been locked in discussions with Celtic ever since.

Well, it looks as if there has been a breakthrough in discussions after Tierney left Celtic’s summer training camp.

Tierney and the rest of his teammates have been in Austria in recent weeks but the 22-year-old has departed and is back in Glasgow.

It’s unclear whether this means there has been a breakthrough in discussions between Celtic but reports now suggest that Arsenal could include Carl Jenkinson in any potential deal.

Reports suggest that Arsenal are in ‘very advanced’ negotiations with the former Porto winger Yacine Brahimi over a free transfer (via Sport Witness).

1 July is a significant date in the football calendar with many players’ contracts expiring today.

Aaron Ramsey is now a Juventus player but it also means that numerous other stars are free to look for new clubs after their previous contracts expired.

The former Porto winger Yacine Brahimi is one of them and was set to join a Turkish side with numerous offers on the table.

However, reports in Algeria suggest that the 29-year-old is now in ‘very advanced’ negotiations with Arsenal over a free transfer.

Brahimi has long been a target for numerous Premier League sides in the past but La Gazette du Fennec has claimed that Arsenal are now at the front of the queue.

It remains to be seen how much truth is in these reports. Yacine Brahimi is familiar name in summer transfer stories for numerous clubs and that won’t change now he is a free agent. The 29-year-old Algerian international notched up 13 goals and 9 assists in 49 matches for Porto last term. He’s a decent player but not the most exciting signing the club could make.
