Manchester United fans could not contain their happiness with Eric Bailly after the narrow win over a good Aston Villa side.

The Ivorian international has always been a fan-favourite but could never remain fit enough for a long enough period for fans to enjoy his presence on the field.

In the absence of Victor Lindelof, Bailly has put in a handful of stunning performances and showed supporters just what they’ve been missing out on.

United’s 2-1 win over Villa means they’re currently level on points with league leaders and fierce rivals Liverpool which is something fans didn’t think was possible just a couple of weeks ago.

If Bailly can keep himself away from any injuries then it’s likely he’ll continue to be handed starts even when Lindelof recovers from his own knock.

Bailly is not only showing he’s capable of being a starting XI star but his partnership with Harry Maguire is arguably better than Lindelof.

The Swede international has played well this season and is the typically preferred player but the truth is that the former Villareal man is the superior centre-back.

Some fans would probably not even mind if the partnership moving forward is Lindelof and Bailly but unfortunately it’s not realistic given the cash Ole Gunnar Solskjaer splashed on Maguire.
