"It should've changed"- Man United great blasts Solskjaer for this costly decision

Manchester United great Rio Ferdinand was not impressed with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s decision making in light of the loss to RB Leipzig.

The legendary Norwegian saw calls for his head grow tenfold when it became official that the team have been knocked out of the Champions League and dropped down to the Europa League.

United found themselves losing to their German opponents 3-0 at one point but managed to scramble in two goals to give fans some hope.

Unfortunately they left things a little too late and couldn’t score another and so lost 3-2 to crash out of Europe’s elite competition.

Ferdinand couldn’t wrap his head over why Solskjaer started with the formation he did given Leipzig’s own setup and it was a decision that proved costly in the end.

Rio Ferdinand: “In the past Ole set us up to play five at the back with a lot of attackers (like against PSG), tonight we set up with five when they only had one up top, it was a waste of a centre half. It should’ve changed, Ole didn’t do it and the subs were too late” [BT]

Manchester United only have themselves to blame for losing, particularly since they started the group stage incredibly well with good wins over RB Leipzig and PSG.

Unfortunately it came apart vs the minnows of the group in Istanbul Basaksehir and Solskjaer’s men failed to recover since.

With United set to face Manchester City this weekend, there’s the possibility Pep Guardiola’s men could take advantage of Solskjaer’s side’s defensive frailties and tear them apart.
