Manchester United fans are incensed after tonight’s performance against RB Leipzig that saw the Red Devils crash out of the Champions League.
United lost 3-2 but despite the late flurry in which the two goals were clawed back, they were terrible for much of the match and did not deserve to get anything out of the game.
Comments on social media included the following:
‘Don’t let that late run distract from the fact that we had our a–e fully handed to us for 75 mins of that match. Utterly sh–e.’
Don’t let that late run distract from the fact that we had our arse fully handed to us for 75 mins of that match. Utterly shite.

‘That’s abysmal. And the saddest thing is that it’s not surprising.’

‘When Man Utd beat PSG & RB Leipzig in the first 2 games, we only needed 4 out of the possible 12 points that were available in the last 4 games to qualify, and we couldn’t even do that. We simply do not deserve to qualify from this group.’

‘In the Europa because of some of the worst defending you’ll ever seen from a Champions League side. Pants pulled down in Istanbul, last week and again tonight. Can’t do that.’

‘We shouldn’t be going out tonight after winning those first two games. Shows Ole’s frailties again. This was a semi-final tonight. He failed again. Not good enough for this club to be this inconsistent.’

‘Maguire shocking. De Gea Turing his back. Also Lindelof’s abysmal pass to Pogba which gave the ball to Leipzig. The Entire back 4/5/6 has been abysmal the lot of them. De Gea. AWB, Maguire, Lindelof, Telles, Shaw.’

United will now drop down to the Europa League, in which they reached the semi-finals last season before losing to Sevilla. The result will put increased pressure on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who has struggled to bring any consistency to his United side this season and who looked tactically bereft tonight, inexplicably playing 8 defensive players having beaten the same side 5-0 in the home tie.
Edinson Cavani has made quite an impact since his deadline day arrival at Old Trafford, but how much do you know about our other South American players, past and present? Take our quiz below to find out!
