Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has insisted Paul Pogba is happy at the club amid reports of his desire to leave for Real Madrid.
What sparked those reports was the Frenchman’s public admiration for Zinedine Zidane and the Spanish club which obviously upset supporters.
It’s not the first time Pogba has flirted with a move abroad and there’s a growing belief he won’t stay at United forever.
However, Solskjaer believes the midfielder isn’t to blame for his comments and suggests the media were manipulative.
Either way fans aren’t happy with what happened with even some of them calling for Paul to be moved on.
According to Manchester Evening News, Ole said: “Paul is a very nice and polite man who then answered a general question.
“Zidane is an icon in France, Zidane is a fantastic manager, he used to be a fantastic player, I played against him myself, and he’s just politely answered that question but Paul’s happy here, he’s gonna be a big, big part.
“You like to build your team around him and that hasn’t changed at all.”
Pogba’s form has tapered off of late and it’s no surprise given the general performances from the whole team.
Back to back losses to Arsenal and Wolves were followed by a questionable win vs Watford at home.
The former Juventus man can certainly do better but it seems that he as well as his teammates are a little burnt out.
Solskjaer’s high tempo, attacking tactics have taken their toll on his squad with the injuries continuously mounting and seemingly not ending.
Nonetheless, there’s hope Pogba can return to putting in fantastic performances similar to how he did when his manager was first put in charge of the club.
