It seems Manchester United were almost destined to play with ten men in the clash with PSG as the statistics below would suggest.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men fell to a 3-1 loss despite playing well and having opportunities to win the match themselves.
Fred didn’t make things easier either when he was sent off after picking up two bookings in either half of the fixture.
The Brazilian midfielder was probably a little too feisty on the pitch and it ended up costing him and his team.
There’s little Fred has done wrong this season but it seems even if he wasn’t sent off, someone else in United’s team might’ve been.
Scott McTominay (5) and Fred (4) committed nine fouls combined against PSG, one fewer than the entire PSG side in total (10).

Scott McTominay didn’t even pick up a booking though it could easily be argued he could have given the nature of the referee.
The young Scotsman was even involved in a scuffle with Neymar who netted a brace for the French champions at Old Trafford.
Solskjaer’s decision to play McTominay and Fred together in midfield always meant United were looking to shore up their defence with the hardworking pair.
Fans wanted the latter to be substituted at the break once it was apparent he would lose his cool but no such thing happened.
Edinson Cavani has made quite an impact since his deadline day arrival at Old Trafford, but how much do you know about our other South American players, past and present? Take our quiz below to find out!
