Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be secretly grinning from ear to ear after his side tore apart Leeds United 6-2 to climb into third place in the league table.

Crazy game. Eight goals, 43 shots and 24 corners. United will be third on Christmas Day, five points off the top with a game in hand. Last year they were 8th on Christmas Day, 24 points off the top.

Solskjaer deserves plenty of praise especially as he’s been heavily criticised, sometimes fairly and most of the time unfairly, and fans should celebrate the Leeds result.
However, it is equally important to recognise that the difference in points isn’t just due to the manager or the players but rather to how open and crazy the league has been this season in comparison to the last.
Nonetheless, that doesn’t take away anything from Solskjaer’s work and how Manchester United have progressed over the course of the past year.
