Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho will travel to Montenegro during the international break, it has been revealed.
It was initially assumed that Mourinho was going to watch Man United midfielder Nemanja Matic in action for Serbia against Montenegro in the country’s capital of Podgorica.
Matic’s Serbia teammates will be action at the Gradski Stadion during the break, but manager Mladen Krstajic has confirmed that the United enforcer will miss out on the match due to a recent back injury.
Mourinho started Matic in United’s 3-2 comeback victory against Newcastle United at the weekend.
The Daily Mirror reports that Mourinho will make the trip to watch a couple of possible transfer targets.
With star midfielder Paul Pogba considering his options due to a poor relationship with Mourinho, the Portuguese coach could be looking at Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. The Reds have been linked with the Serb for the last two seasons, and Pogba leaving United to join Barcelona, Juventus or Paris Saint-Germain would give them the need and the funds to buy Milinkovic-Savic.
However, United could also be interested in Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic. He’s one of a number of Serie A defenders who Mourinho is looking at it.
ESPN FC reported on Monday that United are also looking at AC Milan’s Alessio Romagnoli as well as Milan Skriniar of rivals Inter Milan.
