Tottenham Hotspur are lining up a move to sign Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma, according to a report from the player’s native France.
RMC Sport (via GFFN) claim that Spurs boss Jose Mourinho has informed Daniel Levy and the Tottenham board that he would like the French star as part of his squad next season.
Mourinho knows Zouma well after the pair worked together at Stamford Bridge and it looks like the ex-Chelsea boss would like to manage the 25-year-old once again.
At this time, it’s unclear if Chelsea would be willing to sell the £25.2million-rated defender, or if Tottenham would be able to even afford him.
Spurs have borrowed £175m from the Bank of England to help them navigate through the financial difficulties brought on by the global pandemic and according to the Telegraph, this money will not be spent on transfers.

Mourinho may want a Zouma reunion, but given the loan that Spurs have taken out, it looks like they could have to sell any players to raise funds for transfers this summer, which could make a move for the Chelsea star quite difficult.
In truth, it would be unwise of Chelsea to sell Zouma to Spurs anyway as the North London club are a direct rival in terms of the battle to secure a top-four finish each season.
If Frank Lampard, for some reason, decided to let Zouma leave, the Blues would be best served to let him join a club who aren’t a direct competitor in the Premier League.
