Jorginho’s agent has reportedly suggested that his client could leave Stamford Bridge this summer, with Maurizio Sarri’s Juventus touted as a possible destination.
The Italian regista has enjoyed a resurgence under Frank Lampard this season, having previously been earmarked as the poster boy of Sarri’s tumultuous reign in West London.
His agent, Joao Santos, has now shrouded Jorginho’s future at the club in doubt, remarking “I am sure that some important proposals will come, which we would obviously evaluate together with Chelsea.”
At 28 years old, Jorginho is an experienced head in the dressing room at Chelsea, and his promotion to vice-captain at the start of the season is testament to the vocal leadership that has become a key part of his role in Lampard’s burgeoning young squad.
A potential reunion with Sarri presents an interesting option for Jorginho though and with Chelsea’s top four prospects in the balance, there is good reason to suggest that the idea of domestic and European dominance under the same manager that bought him to prominence at Napoli would entice the midfielder.
With the Blues still firmly a side in transition, many at the club will likely be hoping to retain the services of Jorginho, and with three years remaining on his contract, it appears that any rumoured move will only come about as a result of a very dramatic change of heart from the player himself.
Santos has acknowledged that there will undoubtedly be interest in his client’s services, but he did not appear to outwardly suggest that Jorginho was actually contemplating said offers.
Even personally, he is doing very well at Chelsea, and I am sure that some important proposals will come because in his role there are not many high-level players like him around.

Jorginho has shown himself to be an invaluable asset to Lampard’s system, with his fluid movement between the midfield and defence helping to contribute to Chelsea’s deep ball progression.
It is no surprise to see that whenever the Blues have struggled to break down low defensive blocks, particularly at home, it has typically been in part due to the opposition starving Jorginho of time and space to pick up the ball and spread play.
With a well-defined role within the side, it should be the job of Lampard and his backroom staff to build their midfield around the Italian, deploying two more mobile, but perhaps less technically proficient, options ahead of him to push Chelsea forward in the transition.
The reintroduction of Ruben Loftus-Cheek could yet prove to be the answer to said question and Jorginho’s presence behind the Englishman appears to be mutually beneficial.
