Reports in England suggest that Matteo Guendouzi was dropped from Arsenal’s starting lineup yesterday after a fallout with Mikel Arteta (via The Telegraph).
It’s normal for players to have regular fallings-out with one another but when it’s with a head coach, that becomes a little more uncommon.
It’s always a headling-grabbing event and now, the Gunners have had their own incident according to reports in England.
The Telegraph has claimed that midfielder Matteo Guendouzi was involved in a training ground bust-up with Mikel Arteta and other members of the club’s coaching team last week.
The report suggests that the incident happened while the Gunners were away on their mid-season training camp in Dubai.
The incident reportedly led to Arteta’s decision to drop the player for yesterday’s 4-0 victory over Newcastle United at the Emirates.
It is claimed that Arteta was left unimpressed by Guendouzi’s ‘attitude and body language in Dubai,’ something that he spoke about after the game yesterday when asked why certain players like Guendouzi were dropped.
“The reason is that players who, in my opinion, are training better, behaving better and are more applied to deliver on the pitch what we want, are the players that are selected,” Arteta told BeIN Sports.
It’s an interesting story. Matteo Guendouzi is a talented and confident young player and that isn’t a bad thing. It’s natural to knock heads and get into arguments at a football club but now, it’s on him to react to Mikel Arteta’s decisions.
