Chelsea supposedly attempted to bolster their forward options with a move for FC Metz striker Habib Diallo in the January transfer window.
According to Afriquesports, Metz rejected Chelsea’s €20million (£16.6million) approach for the Senegal international, who has also been linked with Leicester City and Newcastle United, last month.
The report claims, however, that it’ll be almost impossible for the Ligue 1 outfit to keep Diallo in the summer, amidst the interest in his services.
Although Metz are fighting a relegation battle in France’s top-flight, the 24-year-old frontman has looked very impressive, scoring 12 goals in 25 league appearances this season.
If you look at Chelsea’s attacking options, based on how this term has gone so far, I think it’s hard to see where goals are going to come from in the closing stages of the season.
The 22-year-old has managed just two goals in his last 10 league appearances though, which makes me believe goals could be a serious issue in the final few months of the season.
However, we feel it’s an area Frank Lampard will probably look to strengthen first and foremost in the summer, with the likes of Lyon’s Moussa Dembele and Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho amongst those heavily linked.
