Manchester United have reportedly revealed their transfer stance on Juventus star Mario Mandzukic amid rumours over a potential purchase.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men have looked short of firepower and leadership this season which has naturally led to links between the two sides.
Mandzukic hasn’t featured for Juventus yet this campaign as it’s quickly become clear for him he has no real role to play there.
With the Red Devils the experienced Croatian may not be a guaranteed starter but he would certainly offer a helping hand to a young but sensational front three.
Fans have not completely warmed up to the transfer but no one has truly spoken out against it either since reports first began.
According to Manchester Evening News, United sources have cooled reports claiming the club are keen on signing Mandzukic, particularly since he doesn’t fit their transfer policy.
It certainly makes sense not to bend the rules of the strategy put in place by Solskjaer, even if a signing would temporarily improve the squad.
However, it all depends on the deal in the end of the day and if Manchester United can sign him for cheap, both transfer fee and contract-wise, then it seems a little naive to ignore.
A good middle-ground solution would be to sign Mandzukic on loan if there are doubts over his age and if he flourishes it would be a win-win situation for both clubs.
