Manchester United supporters have reacted with a sense of excitement at the news that Jose Mourinho will be the next manager of Tottenham Hotspur.
The 56-year-old replaces Mauricio Pochettino, who leaves the club after five years, and will come to Old Trafford on December 4.
In truly poetic fashion, that game comes almost exactly 12 months after Mourinho was relieved from his position at United.
United supporters took to social media to show their excitement for what promises to be truly box office content.

Fate is a strange thing. Mourinho went to war with the United board to sign Toby Alderweireld and now he’s his manager at Tottenham.
That being said, he’ll probably bench him and play Ndombele in defence

To not back Pochettino financially (aside from the most recent summer) and then bring in Mourinho at first sign of trouble seems… odd.
But I am interested to see if there’s any change from Mourinho. First time he enters a new club without Rui Faria. New staff, any new ideas?

Two weeks until Jose walks out at Old Trafford. Whatever your thoughts on his departure, this is going to be box office stuff. https://t.co/6NqRsq9F6y

What this appointment – and the reaction to it – shows more than anything is our need for storylines, for a narrative that we can all get behind.
And Mourinho, 12 months after being sacked by United, coming back to the Theatre of Dreams to face United? That, right there, is optimal box office stuff. It really is.
You got the sense that he was waiting for something in the Premier League, and in Spurs he has a fresh group that he can, in no uncertain terms, kick up the proverbial rear end.
Imagine day one. Dele Alli and Son Heung-min doing funny handshakes, Harry Kane just sitting there drooling, Jan Vertonghen putting Christian Eriksen in a headlock. And in comes Jose, scowling. Just scowling at every single one of them.
Honestly, I cannot wait.
