Player ratings: Attacking duo guide United to impressive three-goal win

David de Gea 5 – Had nothing to do up until the last five minutes, when Onel Hernandez’s effort should have been saved.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka 7 – Another under the radar yet impeccable defensive display. Hardly ever lost the ball and always seemed to be in the right place.

Victor Lindelof 6 – Passing was decent as always but the Swede found himself in a poor position for Todd Cantwell and Teemu Pukki’s missed chances.

Harry Maguire 7 – Statesmanlike. Very calmly never puts a foot wrong. Played at a higher level of assurance than anybody else on the pitch.

Ashley Young 5 – Once again a liability. Struggled to keep pace with the impressive Max Aarons, hacking the youngster down on two occasions.

Scott McTominay 7 – He may be just 22 but McTominay is playing a senior role in this midfield. Dominated the ball in the first half, ensuring that Norwich remained in their own half, and scored a good goal.

Fred 7 – An improved display for sure. Had a quiet opening 20 minutes but became more embedded in the game as the minutes ticked by. Impressive at close quarters.

Andreas Pereira 6 – Started the game well, producing a few lovely touches to release the ball into the final third, but seemed to fade as the encounter went on.

Daniel James 7 – Once again threatening in the final third, not least because of his pace. Won a penalty and then supplied an excellent assist for Rashford.

Marcus Rashford 7 – Missed a penalty but atoned by rolling the ball calmly under Tim Krul moments later, ahead of laying on a sumptuous assist for Martial.

Anthony Martial 7 – There is a totally different feel about United with this guy in the team. Dragged defenders across the park and his feet at times were just too quick. Scored a truly saucy goal to wrap things up, lifting the ball over Krul following some beautiful interplay with Rashford.
