Manchester United are reportedly interested in bringing in Sporting Lisbon star Bruno Fernandes, despite a transfer being more complicated than initially expected.
The Portuguese has been on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s radar for quite some time but it’s only recently the interest became more serious.
The Norwegian has taken the decision to invest in United’s engine room whether or not Paul Pogba stays or goes and the 24 year old would undoubtedly add quality to the squad.
Solskjaer’s interest in Fernandes must stem from the fact he scored over 20 goals for his club in all competitions last season.
A threat like that cannot be ignored and now with Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s transfer dealt with, it appears the Old Trafford chiefs are ready to make their next move.
According to Sky Sports, Bruno’s agent was in the UK trying to negotiate a deal with Sporting hoping to get over £50m for him despite his £31m release clause. He would be due £4.5m if his club reject it being triggered.
It appears the two sides failure to agree on a valuation is what is delaying this transfer and that is almost identical to the Wan-Bissaka scenario.
Manchester United fans will certainly be hoping that a deal for Fernandes can be wrapped up quicker with the club’s pre-season just on the horizon.
