Go back 12 months and it was another unknown teenage French midfielder who Arsenal were attempting to sign.
Matteo Guendouzi has done pretty well since then and Gunners fans will be hoping for a repeat from this next target.
Bilel Hassaini is an 18-year-old right winger who plays for Nancy and the French youth setup.
Nancy are said to be desperate to sell the player in order to rebalance their finances and was in negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain.
However, those discussions stalled and now, Arsenal and FC Barcelona are at the front of the queue to sign Hassaini.
Bilel Hassaini is said to be an exciting young player who has attracted interest from clubs across Europe. The fact that Paris Saint-Germain were in advanced negotiations with the 18-year-old suggests as much. It’s believed that the Arsenal view the player as one for the future but the same was said of Matteo Guendouzi before he made 48 first-team appearances last season.
