According to reports coming from Sky Germany, Michael Ballack could well be part of Frank Lampard’s coaching staff at Chelsea.
There have been rumours circulating for a long time now about who will be Maurizio Sarri’s successor. Even before it was announced that Sarri would be leaving Chelsea, Lampard was the front runner to take his position.
Lampard has only been in a managerial role for one season but showed success as he took his Derby County squad to the play-off final, where they were ultimately beaten by Dean Smith’s Aston Villa.
Now, with Lampard in talks over the Chelsea role, attention turns to who could follow him to Stamford Bridge.
The latest rumour is former Blues midfielder Ballack, who played alongside Lampard for four years. With Ballack currently working on his UEFA B license, it has been suggested he could be the next former player to return to the club.
