Manchester United have not made contact with Newcastle United over midfielder Sean Longstaff, according to sources at Sky Sports.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has decided to place emphasis on signing young British talent this summer. Daniel James, the club’s first signing, is an example of this new strategy. Jadon Sancho, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire are three further high-profile targets.
And Longstaff, who enjoyed an impressive 2018/19 season under Rafa Benitez, has also been linked with a move to Man United.
However, according to Sky Sports, Longstaff is not a player United are looking at.

This is a strange headline because it was Sky themselves who pushed this story in the first place. The sudden U-turn suggests this link is based less in solid fact and more in the notion that Solskjaer, as a general rule, wants promising British talent to serve as the backbone of his Old Trafford rebuild. Longstaff, in this sense, fits the bill nicely.
Such a headline is also fuelled by the simple fact that United need midfielders, and are indeed searching for one. Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera both desperately need proper replacement. The club cannot afford to let its midfield fall further behind those leading the pack ahead of next season.
