Manchester United have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Aaron Wan-Bissaka with Crystal Palace rejecting what can only be considered a respectable offer.
The Englishman has quickly emerged as a target of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s after an incredible campaign for the London club.
Wan-Bissaka is said to be the Norwegian’s ideal signing as he looks to improve United’s shaky defence.
The youngster would certainly be an upgrade on Ashley Young but Palace have been tough in negotiations so far.
After all, they are in the driving seat with Aaron given how there’s still three years left on his current deal.
According to Sky Sports, the Red Devils’ £40m offer was rejected with Crystal Palace holding out for £60m with Solskjaer considering Thomas Meunier and Kieran Trippier as alternatives.
Fans will certainly be unhappy with any bid for the Tottenham man with the Belgian being the more acceptable target.
£60m would be the record spent on an English defender and so it’s a little too much to pay for someone so young.
Some supporters don’t even feel the need for Wan-Bissaka and would instead rather Ole had Diogo Dalot the opportunity to press on.
After all, the Portuguese star was signed just last season so it may make better sense to make use of the current players.
