Manchester United have reportedly stood firm amid Barcelona’s interest in Victor Lindelof as it appears they’ve turned their attentions away from Matthijs de Ligt.
The Ajax star is arguably Europe’s most wanted teenager with several high profile clubs, including Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, are said to be keen on his signature.
The defender has proven complicated to purchase so perhaps that has convinced the Spanish champions on looking elsewhere for defensive reinforcements.
Lindelof was United’s best defender last season and it’s believed his performances against the La Liga side in the Champions League convinced them to register their interest.
Solskjaer is said to be keen on bringing defenders in so it’s unlikely he’ll be happy to lose his best one so soon.
According to the Mirror, Mundo Deportivo report that Barcelona feel despite the Red Devils’ insistence Victor isn’t for sale, their failure to qualify for the Champions League could see him depart nonetheless.
Although that is true, the Swede will likely fail to get the minutes he worked so hard to get at Old Trafford as the Spanish giants have a lot of contenders for the centre-back position.
Lindelof’s career is more likely to progress at Manchester United, particularly if he can lead them to a Champions League qualification spot next season.
