Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made an early approach for Lyon forward Moussa Dembele ahead of the summer transfer window, according to reports from France.
The 22-year-old, who moved to the Ligue 1 side from Celtic over the summer, has impressed with his performances this season, scoring 18 goals in all competitions.
Reports have claimed Solskjaer wants to make four key signings this summer: a full-back, a central defender, another midfielder (perhaps two), and an attacker, with Romelu Lukaku’s future at Old Trafford looking ever more doubtful.
And according to French media outlet L’Equipe, Solskjaer likes Dembele as a player and has been working with intermediaries to accrue further information on the player.
The report points out how the Norwegian has placed emphasis on gauging the youngster’s personality – a consideration often ignored at this club – and whether it fits the profile he wants moving forward.
United supporters, you suspect, have become disillusioned by the tendency of Ed Woodward to target illustrious names which, on paper, seem fantastic but, in practice, never work in the long-run.
There must be a new angle of vision, and Solskjaer knows this. He must not go for the biggest player; he must go for the right player, one whose personality is compatible with a club like United.
