Chelsea are yet to appeal their transfer ban with the Court of Arbitration for Sport and there are now suggestions that they may not try to either.
The Telegraph reports that sources close to the club have cast doubts over the possibility of the ban being frozen this summer as a result of the unlikeliness of the overall ban being overturned permanently.
Given that Chelsea can still sign both Gonzalo Higuain and Mateo Kovacic permanently, as they are both registered at the club, the Blues know they can at least make a couple of additions to the squad this summer.
There also appears to be a stronger willingness to give youth a chance, with the likes of Reece James, Ola Aina and Tammy Abraham earning rave reviews away from Stamford Bridge this season.
Add to that the addition of Christian Pulisic, the Chelsea squad could look very different by the time the new season rolls around, despite the ban remaining in place at Stamford Bridge.
