Andreas Christensen says he intends to remain a Chelsea player, despite a lack of playing time.
The Dane has suffered a frustrating year under Maurizio Sarri, having burst onto the scene last season.
Christensen was a key man in 2017/18 but just four Premier League appearances have come his way this time around.
It has led to speculation surrounding the 23-year-old’s future, with other clubs likely to be monitoring the situation.
In quotes revealed by Goal, Christensen says he hopes to stay at Stamford Bridge, although the club haven’t promised anything yet:
It’s always difficult when I speak in Danish and it’s translated. No, I haven’t had a conversation with the club.
I’ve said I’d like to say, but they haven’t said I’m definitely staying. There’s been no conversation.
I’ve said what I want to happen, and that was definitely staying.
Christensen could start for the Blues in their Europa League quarter-final first leg clash away to Slavia Prague on Thursday evening.
He has made 10 appearances in the competition this season and will hope to impress, ahead of Sunday’s trip to Liverpool in the Premier League.
Christensen’s future is clearly up in the air, but given his potential, it would be a big risk to let him go at this stage of his career.
